Interesting Spiritual Information: One of the three sacred Druidic trees, oak, ash and thorn. Oak is king in the forest, it is solid, and a survivor of many lightning strikes. It acts as a marker point, boundary and refuge. A doorway into which the pilgrim can cross to explore his spirituality in depth and with help. It is associated with protection spells, strength, success, stability, healing, fertility, health, money, potency and good luck. It has been considered sacred by most cultures that have encountered it, but the Celts especially adored it, from its size, long life, and wholesome acorns.
Folklore: The Greeks, Romans, Celts and Teutonic tribes all associated their main Gods (Zeus, Jupiter, Dagda, and Thor), with the sacred oak. It is no coincidence that all of these Gods also had dominion over rain, thunder and lightning, as above all other trees, the oak is most likely to be hit by lightning. The Druids where renowned for worshipping and teaching in oak groves (the word, Druid, was probably a Gaelic derivation of their word for oak, Duir,
and meant men of the oaks).
